Approaches to Language Assessment for Aphasia Patients
Aphasia is a language impairment and communication disorder resulting from brain dam-age,especially after stroke.The assessment of language ability of aphasia patients is an impor-tant aspect of aphasia research,and it is the basis for rehabilitation treatment of aphasia.This arti-cle first introduces the commonly used language assessment tools for aphasia patients at home and abroad.Then,the existing language assessment tools for aphasia patients are analyzed based on the two approaches to language assessment for aphasia patients,namely language representa-tion and function.Finally,a thorough analysis of the problems with the existing language assess-ment tools for aphasia patients is conducted,and systematic solutions are developed.
