Measurement and Evaluation of the Synergy between Local Higher Education and Regional Industrial Development—A Comparative Study Based on Universities and Vocational Colleges in Wenzhou
Focused on the synergy between local higher education and regional industries, and based on system theory and talent structure theory, this study constructs a mapping model between industrial talent demand and talent supply, quantitatively assessing the synergy between majors of 11 higher education institutions in Wenzhou and regional industries.Findings indicate that in Wenzhou the macro-adaptability of the secondary sectors and tertiary sectors to majors needs to be improved, and the overall synergy status of the dominant manufacturing sectors and related majors has reached a relatively high level. The synergy degree between majors and industries in vocational colleges is higher than that in universities, and majors in vocational colleges are more closely aligned with emerging industries. To enhance the synergy between majors and industries, higher education institutions in Wenzhou should appropriately increase majors related to the secondary industry and adjust those related to the tertiary industry.Vocational colleges should increase the supply of applied research talents for the footwear and clothing industry and applied talents for the electrical manufacturing industry.Universities should increase the supply of compound development-oriented talents for the instrument and meter manufacturing, electrical manufacturing, and automotive manufacturing industries.A proactive planning should be carried out to reserve an appropriate amount of talents for emerging industries such as new energy and new materials.
