Study on Convergence of Carbon Productivity in China
Having estimated the carbon productivity of 29 provinces in China during 1995--2010, this paper analyzed the disparity in the country as well as eastern, central and western regions, and constructed the panel data model to analyze the convergence of carbon productivity. The study found that the level of national carbon productivity increased year by year and the levels of carbon productivity of three regions were decreasing from east to west. The results of carbon productivity convergence tests showed the existence of absolute β convergence in the whole nation and eastern provinces, but not in central and western prov- inces. While national and three regions all showed the existence of conditional β convergence. The convergence speed of eastern provinces is fastest, followed by the central and western and per capita GDP, industry structure, energy intensity and consumption structure had significant effects on the convergence of carbon productivity.
