Pigment Analysis and Restoration of Tang Dynasty Colored Horse-riding Figures in the Shaanxi History Museum
X-ray fluorescence(XRF),scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive spectrometry(SEM-EDS)and Raman spectrometry(RM)were employed to determine the elements in pigments applied to colored Tang Dynasty horse-riding figures in the Shaan History Museum.The results showed that the blue pigments were malachite,black pigments were carbonate,yellow pigments were massicot,orange pigments were red lead.Based on these studies and current condition of this cultural relic,The figurine surface was cleaned,the broken parts were reassembled and glued together and the missing parts were recreated to be better preserved and displayed.
