A study of historical figures and their ideas about urban development in local planning
In the long-standing history of Chinese culture,rich ideas about local planning and urban development have been accumulated,but further academic research is still needed to learn about planners behind ideas about urban development.The living environment,character characteristics and the influence mechanism of camp city thought of historical figures in planning are still relatively vague.From the perspective of historical figures,the characteristic vein of camp city thought in local planning theory can be systematically sorted out.This paper summarized and analyzed relations among historical figures,characteristics of planning,historical deeds and ideas about urban development in the thought of local planning,and classified local planners into respectable and morally lofty officials,literati,craftsmen,and geomancers,whose ideas about urban development were summed up.The results of this paper are of great value and significance to understanding the"multiple identities"of planners,enriching the system of local urban planning theories and enhancing confidence in Chinese culture.
