The Relationship between Leadership Style and Employee Work Engagement:An Evidence from Meta-Analysis
Based on social exchange theory, resource conservation theory and self-determination theory, this paper makes a meta-analysis of 68 empirical studies on leadership style and employee engagement. The following conclusions are drawn:leader-member exchange,transformational,service-oriented,humble,au-thentic,empowering,transactional,ethical and spiritual leadership styles are significantly positively correlated with employee work engagement, and the influence degree is decreasing in turn. There is a significant negative correlation between authoritarian& abusive leadership and job engagement.Industry category and research de-sign significantly moderate the relationship between leadership style and employee job involvement, while cul-tural background and literature publication type have no significant moderating effect on the relationship be-tween leadership style and job involvement. It is suggested that the organization should enable employees to ob-tain adequate work resources and establish a vision to stimulate the enthusiasm of employees.
