The Chinese Cultural Outlook of the Old Uyghurs on the Silk Road
A large amount of archaeological materials show that after the old Uyghurs migrated westward,in addi-tion to continuing to believe in Manichaeism, they were deeply influenced by the Confucian,Buddhist, and Taoist cultures of the local Han people in Turpan from the 10th century onwards, actively and extensively studying Chinese culture. At the same time, they were also influenced by the Eastern Church in Mesopotamia to spread Christian culture. This article ana-lyzes the characteristics of the old Uyghur culture on the Silk Road and its close integration with Chinese culture from four aspects:Confucianism,Buddhism,Taoism, and Christianity, reflecting a strong Chinese sentiment. This article attempts to summarize it as"East Integration and West Mirror",which means integrating and connecting to the east, exchanging and learning from the west, and thus promoting the Chinese cultural attributes and identity of the old Uyghur culture.
