Observation of the Ethnic Interactions,Exchanges and Integration in Chinese History Based on the Narration of the Chinese Ancestral Origins from the Tomb Inscriptions of the Hu People in Northern Wei Dynasty
During the Northern Wei Dynasty,a large number of Hu people gradually integrated their family history into the category of the Chinese nation by using the epitaph writing method of"borrowing"the ancestral origins of China, forming a rich, diverse, and distinctly sinicized narrative text of ancestral origins.By analyzing such texts,it was found that the Hu people of Northern Wei generally adhered to the concept of shared ancestry between China and the barbarians, actively identifying with the origins and culture of Huaxia. This is the inevitable result of long-term close communication, exchange and integration among various ethnic groups since the Qin,Han,Wei,and Jin dynasties, and it is also a vivid manifestation of the communication, exchange and integration among northern ethnic groups during the Northern Wei peri-od.The dissemination of this concept further promoted the communication, exchange and integration of various ethnic groups, laying an important psychological foundation for the prosperous era of"unification"during the Sui and Tang dy-nasties.It highlighted the inclusiveness and unity of Chinese civilization and had outstanding exemplary significance in the history of communication, exchange and integration among various ethnic groups in China.
