The correlation pattern and regional types of urban population and land use changes in the Yellow River Basin
Identifying the correlation pattern and regional types between urban population and urban land use in the Yellow River Basin is of great guiding significance for the coordinated development of the human land system.Based on population census and urban land grid data, using methods such as urban population change index, urban land expansion intensity index, and standard deviation ellipse, this study reveals the spatiotem-poral differentiation dynamic characteristics of urban population and urban land in the Yellow River Basin from 2000 to 2020,and constructs a coefficient for coordinated development of urban population and urban land, dividing urbanization regional types. The results show that:① From 2000 to 2020,the urban population growth and urban land expansion in the Yellow River Basin showed a phased change, with urban population mainly increasing at a medium to high speed, and then transitioning to a medium to low speed. The urban land area in the Yellow River Basin shows a continuous increasing trend, and the urban expansion intensity of the same city at different stages has a decreasing characteristics from strong to weak.② The difference between the long and short axes of the standard deviation ellipse of urban population and urban land in the Yellow River Basin from 2000 to 2020 continues to increase, indicating a strong consistency between urban population growth and urban land expansion in terms of spatial and temporal patterns.③ The urbanization regional types in the Yellow River Basin can be divided into five categories. From 2000 to 2010,the urbanization regional types showed a trend of distribution from west to east, and from 2010 to 2020,they showed a pattern of distri-bution from southeast to northwest. The development of new urbanization in the Yellow River Basin should build a regional coordinated development system, accelerate the transformation and upgrading of industrial structure, coordinate urban and rural development, and promote the sustainable development of the human land system in the Yellow River Basin.
