Density Effects of Phragamites communis on Wetlands in Yinchuan Plain
Based on the survey in a growing season of Phragamites communis at Yinchuan plain wetland, relationships between total biomass, biomass of individual plant and density index were established. The results indicated that the most suitable density was about 200 reeds/m2.When the density was more than this number,self-thinning would occur. The lower the contents of organic matter and available nutrients were in the living environment of the reeds, the higher density of reed plants would be,reflecting the r-proliferation way of the reed clones. The research presented guidance for reed wetland protection and the rational close planting during reed restoration.
