Comparison of Allometric Relationships in Pinus yunnanensis Seedlings with Different Stumping Ages
The objective of this study was to investigate the relative growth relationship of biomass among the components of the sprouts from the stumped seedlings of Pinus yunnanensis with different ages in or-der to provide a basis for the selection of suitable age of the seedlings to be stumped, which has important application value for the acquisition of high-quality panicles of P.yunnanensis.P.yunnanensis seedlings with different ages(6,10,14,18,and 30 months)were used as the research objects, which were subject to being stumped with a uniform stubble height(5 cm).The biomass of each component of the sprout from the stubbles was measured at different growing periods, and the allometric growth law of the biomass of sprout components in different stumping treatments was analyzed. The results indicated that the growth rate of T5 was significantly greater than those of the other treatments and significantly greater than 1.0,180,420 and 480 d after the stumping treatment, indicating the underground biomass has greater productiv-ity.The biomass growth rate of the sprout in all treatments was greater than that of single plant biomass 60 days after stumping treatment, and the growth rate was faster.Except for 60,180 and 240 d after the stumping treatment, the growth rate of T1 was greater. The growth rate of biomass between the compo-nents of each treatment was different. With the increase of seedling age,the growth rate gradually changed from the dominant sprouting biomass to the dominant primary root biomass. The difference in the sprout quality was mainly due to the allometric growth relationship between the sprout branches and their conifer biomass, the growth rate of coniferous biomass was faster for the treatment with younger seedlings, while the growth rate of the biomass of the sprout strip was faster for the treatment with older seedling. With the increase of seedling age,the metabolic energy capacity of the sprout decreased, and the degree of lignifi-cation increased. In this study, with the increase of seedling age,the proportion of sprout biomass decrea-ses,and the metabolic capacity of sprout decreases.T1 presents a fast growth rate during the determination period, and the metabolic capacity of the sprout is strong, and a large number of high-quality sprout are produced. Therefore, the stumping treatment by using young seedlings has a better effect, and the sprout in T1 treatment shows the best growth potential, which is a more suitable seedling age to conduct stumping treatment.
