Undergrowth Species Diversity Characteristics of Larix principis-rupprechtii Plantation
The undergrowth species diversity of Larix principis-rupprechtii plantations in different forest sections of the Forest Farm of Saihanba Third Township in Hebei Province was investigated. The composi-tion of undergrowth species, species importance value, structural characteristics and species diversity indi-ces(richness index,Simpson dominance index,Shannon-Wiener diversity index and Pielou evenness index)of the shrub and herb layers were compared and analyzed to explore the difference of species importance value and diversity index of undergrowth species in three forest sections(including Muzigou,Molimo, and Beicha)managed by the forest farm.Totally,116 undergrowth species were found in three forest sections, belonging to 44 families and 86 genera. The number of families, genera, and species of undergrowth plants presented a consistent pattern:the highest in Muzigou, followed by Molimo, and the lowest in Beicha. The dominant families of shrub layer in three forest sections was Rosaceae, while in herb layer, the dominant families varied, demonstrating significant regional differences. The index value for the shrub and herb lay-ers in Molimo was higher than those in other two sections(Muzigou was in the middle and Beicha was the lowest). The high diversity index of the shrub and herb layers in Molimo forest section may reflect the high health and resilience of the ecosystem in this region, while the moderate diversity index in Muzigou forest section may indicate that its ecosystem is in a transitional state. The low diversity index in Beicha may suggest potential risks faced by the ecosystem. The results provide data support for the health manage-ment of L.principis-rupprechtii plantation ecosystem in different forest sections of Saihanba forest region.
