Soil Quality Evaluation of Rubber Plantations in Yunnan Province Based on Minimum Data Set
In order to evaluate soil quality under rubber plantations in Yunnan Province, soil samples of rubber plantations with different growth stages(young,medium,near-mature,mature,and overmature)were collected from different layers(0-10,11-20,and 21-40 cm)in three typical rubber planting regions of Yunnan Province,i.e.,Hekou,Ruili,and Jinghong.Soil bulk density, water content, nitrate nitrogen, ammonium nitrogen, total nitrogen, available phosphorus, total phosphorus, available potassium, total potassium,pH,organic matter, urease, cellulase, catalase and sucrose invertase were used as the indi-ces of the whole data set(TDS).Principal component analysis(PCA),correlation analysis and Norm value were used to obtain the minimum data set and calculate soil quality index(SQI)for quantitative evaluation of soil quality. The results showed that 7 indices were allowed to enter the minimum data set, including soil bulk density, nitrate nitrogen, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, total potassium, organic matter, and urease. The value of SQI-TDS ranged from 0.29 to 0.56,with an average of 0.39 and a coefficient of variation of 14.67%.The minimum and maximum values of SQI-MDS were 0.20 and 0.53,respectively,the mean value was 0.34 and the coefficient of variation was 18.88%.The correlation of the two evaluation results was good. The SQI decreased slightly and then increased with the growth of rubber plantations. The soil quality in the three rubber planting areas belonged to the level 3 and 4,and the soil quality in three regions was in the order of Jinghong>Hekou>Ruili.
