Environmental Regulation,Green Technological Innovation and Carbon Productivity
Improving carbon productivity is not only an inevitable requirement for constructing a low-carbon development path with Chinese characteristics, but also an intrinsic requirement for promoting the transformation of China's economic development mode and the coordinated and sustainable growth of regional economy. The panel data of 30 provinces in China from 2010 to 2021 were taken as samples to empirically test the impact of environmental regulation on carbon productivity, and to investigate the mediating effect of green technology innovation between the two.The results show that both environmental regulation and green technology innovation can positively improve carbon productivity. The mediating effect shows that environmental regulation can improve carbon productivity by promoting green technology innovation. The threshold effect indicates that green technology innovation has a more significant promoting effect on carbon productivity under higher environmental regulation intensity. The spatial spillover effect shows that environmental regulation has an obvious positive spatial spillover effect on carbon productivity.Regional heterogeneity shows that the impact of environmental regulation on carbon productivity is decreasing in the order of"eastern region>central region>northeast region>western region".Therefore,it is proposed to effectively improve the intensity of environmental regulation, continue to deepen green and low-carbon scientific and technological innovation, and rationally formulate regional ecological coordinated development policies so as to provide policy inspiration for the formulation of green development strategy.
