Dimension Construction of the Sense of Place in Tourism-based Traditional Villages——A Grounded Theory Analysis Based on Online Tourist Reviews
Tourism plays an important role in promoting the economic transformation and high-quality development of traditional villages in China. The cognition of sense of place from tourists'perspective plays an important role in guiding the maintenance of rurality and locality of traditional tourism-based villages.Having selected over-170,000-word online tourist reviews from 60 traditional villages in China, with the help of software such as Weiciyun and Nvivo 20,we have conducted a grounded theory analysis of tourists'sense of place from the comprehensive perception of hearing, vision and smell. The study finds that the tourists'sense of place includes 7 main dimensions and 27 elements, including the sense of historical craftsmanship, scene participation, environmental differences, food experience,host-guest interaction, educational value and authentic preservation.Tourists preliminarily classify the sense of place of traditional villages by means of the sense of environmental differences, and"search"and"verify clues"via the other six dimensions, and obtain value judgment of"concluding verification"of the sense of place. In tourism development, traditional villages should emphasize the integration of"ancient"and"authentic"elements, and pay attention to the construction of interactive ritual chains with comprehensive perception as the clue.
