The Channelization of Storytelling:Re-Contextualization of Myth in the Media of Television
The storytelling of myth by electronic media has become a common phenomenon in today's society,and television is one of the media where myth was performed much abundantly.However,the interpretation of such phenomena in the academic world seems to be insufficient.One of the reasons is that the study of mythology has been focusing on the content rather than the media for a long time,and the relationship between media and storytelling of myth is not well understood.From the perspective of the agency of media,the media television is not inert and static,but an important factor that can shape the storytelling of myth.As far as the TV Media is concerned,the channelization is an important program broadcasting mechanism,which to a certain extent shapes the way of storytelling and the presentation form of myth.The CCTV-14 show"The Fantasy World of Youth"provides a typical case,the myths are regulated by TV station and channel in content,form and function,and re-contextualized under the mechanism of channelization,it clearly shows the shaping power of the media to the storytelling of myth.
