Self-Making and Family-Reconstruction:A Study on"Mini-Online-Celebrities"of Home-Returning Females in Northwestern Ethic Areas
This article analyses how"mini-online-celebrities"of home-returning females utilizes existing social,cultural and natural resources to put through the limitations of gender and urban-rural power structure,and to display their own statuses and discourses.This phenomenon reflects the possibility that female surpass the existing lifestyle and realizing self-empowerment under New Media environment.Meanwhile,it also explores how they construct inner"offline family"through exterior"online work",balance the relationship between individuals and families,and reconstruct domestic labor division and power relations.Peasant families are not the passive receivers of modernization.The relationship between female interests and family benefits is not opposite,but of negotiation and adjustment.Through putting forward the analytical framework of combining self-making and family-reconstruction,trying to avoid the pitfalls of one-side narrative of individuals-centered or families-centered in Family Studies.
