How the Chinese National Community Coheres:Based on A Comparison between China and the West
Looking at the history of the formation of the Chinese national community, four characteristics are clear and prominent:the Chinese national community was born because of the inward economic geography, prospered because of the participation of all ethnic groups in common historical activities, survived because of the idea of great unity, and became powerful because of the socialist system with Chinese characteristics. From the perspective of comparison between China and the West, the reason why various ethnic groups in China can form a unified and consolidated the Chinese national community, which is different from the West,is due to the special conditions conducive to the formation and development of the community in terms of economic geography, historical practice, ideological ideas, and political systems in China. The natural, practical, psychological, and political forces generated by these four special conditions are strong and tenacious, ensuring the long-term unity of the Chinese nation and the continuity of the Chinese civilization.
