Effects of Tetradecanoic Acid on Growth and Activities of Leaf Defense Enzymes of Eggplant Seedlings
Effects of the tetradecanoic acid with different concentrations on growth and activities of leaf defense enzymes of eggplant seedlings were studied in laboratory and field experiment by a simulation way.The results showed that with the increasing of tetradecanoic acid concentrations (0.05-1 mmol· L-1), the growth of eggplant seedlings, leaf chlorophyll content and root vigor could be promoted, and the best effect presented in 1 mmol·L-1 treatment. While the MDA content and relative electricity conductivity were inhibited by tetradecanoic acid at a low concentration, and the inhibitory rates were enhanced with the increasing concentration.Up to 1 mmol·L-1 , tetradecanoic acid presented the strongest inhibition. With the increasing of tetradecanoic acid concentrations (0.05-1 mmol·L-1), activities of CAT, POD, PPO and PAL could be promoted, and the best effect presented in 1 mmol·L-1 treatment.the tetradecanoic acid can enhance the seedling growth of eggplants and promote activities of membrance defense enzymes in eggplant seedlings.
