Physiological Response of New Winter Wheat Line'Bailu 181'to Extreme Freezing Stress
The adaptability of new winter wheat line'Bailu181'to adversity was tested by investiga-ting its physiological response and yield performance under extreme freezing stress.Control materials,'Luohan7'and'Xiaoyan22',were sown under the same conditions in Dali County in Guanzhong Plain. The results showed that the levels of free radical and MDA contents in both leaves and roots ex-hibited the following order:'Xiaoyan22'>'Luohan7'>'Bailu181';SOD,CAT,POD and APX en-zyme activities in both leaves and roots followd the order:'Bailu18 1'>'Luohan7'>'Xiaoyan22';the soluble protein content in the leaves of'Bailu181'was 13.9%higher than that of'Xiaoya22'(P>0.05)and 5.5%higher than that of'Luohan7'(P>0.05);the NO content in the roots of'Bailu181'was 18.7%higher than that of'Xiaoyan22'(P<0.05),and 3%higher than that of'Luo-han7'(P>0.05).Nitric oxide synthase(NOS)activity in the roots of'Bailu181'was 8.5%higher than that of'Luohan7'(P>0.05),and 14.3%higher than that of'Xiaoyan22'(P>0.05).These findings suggest that"Bailu181'is more resistant to extreme freezing stress compared to the materials and is suitable for cultivation in the Guanzhong Plain and other areas in the middle reaches of the Yellow River.
