Effects of Moisture and Temperature in Different Soil Crusts on Seed Germination of Haloxylon ammodendron
The study investigated effects of moisture and temperature in different soil crusts on seed germination of Haloxylon ammodendron.Theaim was to identify suitable environmental conditions for seed germination of H.ammodendron, and to provide theoretical foundation to guide vegetation restoration construction.Using bare sand as the control, the study explored the effects of temperature(10 ℃,25 ℃,and 35 ℃)and water stress levels(severe, mild, and normal watering),along with their interactions in different soil crusts(moss, lichen),on seed germination and seedling growth of H.ammodendron by control test. The results showed that:On the whole, under the same water con-dition,compared to low temperature(10 ℃)and room temperature(25 ℃),high temperature(35 ℃)increased the seed germination rate and germination potential of H.ammodendron in moss crust and shortened the germination process.Comparing low temperature to high temperature, the room temperature(25 ℃)increased the seed germination rate and germination potential of H.ammoden-dron in lichen crust, and the radicle length of H.ammodendron seedling showed an upward trend with the increase of culture temperature.Under the same temperature conditions,in bare sand and two types of crusts, the seed germination process of H.ammodendron gradually slowed down with an increase of water stress, both seed germination rate and germination potential decreased.Moreo-ver,the radicle length and germ length of H.ammodendron seedling showed a downward trend. In bare sand and two types of crusts, low temperature(10 ℃)and drought stress(severe and mild)de-layed the peak of seed germination of H.ammodendron, and reduced the maximum peak value.Un-der the same moisture and temperature conditions, the seed germination rates and germination poten-tial of H.ammodendron in the two crusts were higher than those in bare sand.It can be concluded that compared with bare sand, the presence of soil crust is beneficial to seed germination.Under nor-mal watering condition, the seed germination effect of H.ammodendron is more favorable at 35 ℃ for moss crusts and at 25 ℃ for lichen crusts.
