Effect of Paclobutrazol on Stress Resistance Physiology of Melon Seedlings Based on Multivariate Analysis
This study analyzed thephysiological resistance effects of paclobutrazol(PP333)on the mel-on seedlings and their interrelationships using multivariate statistical methods. The results indicate that paclobutrazol treatment significantly increased the content of soluble sugar(TSS),soluble protein(sPRO—,ascorbic acid(AsA),proline, total chlorophyll(Chl)and chlorophyll a(Chla). It also sig-nificantly increased the activities of glutathione reductase(GR),peroxidase(POD)and ascorbic acid peroxidase(APX)etc.Malondialdehyde(MDA)was negatively correlated with total potassium(TK,R=-0.78),total nitrogen(TN,R=-0.57),glutathione(GSH,R=-0.89),superoxide dismutase(SOD,R=-0.92),catalase(CAT,R=-0.86),etc.All resistance indexes could be clustered into 2 groups, accounting for 70.59%and 29.41%respectively.There was a positive correlation between in-dicators of the same kind;three common factors could be extracted from 17 physiological indicators, and were respectively named:functional substance metabolism, nutrient metabolism, photosynthesis. They accounted for 74.91%,10.75%and 6.53%of the total information. The corresponding key indi-cators were soluble sugar, phosphorus, chlorophyll b.Thus it can be seen that paclobutrazol can im-prove the stress resistance of melon seedlings.A concentration of 50-150 mg/L is the best treat-ment,which is mainly manifested in the functional effects of functional substance metabolism,nutri-ent metabolism and photosynthesis.Soluble sugar is a decisive indicator for measuring the stress re-sistance of melon seedlings treated with paclobutrazol.
