Effects of Low Temperature on Growth,Development and Fecundity of Apolygus lucorum(Hemiptera:Miridae)
To investigate the effect of low temperature on the growth, development and reproduction of Apolygus lucorum,we measured the nymph development, adult lifespan and fecundity in the labo-ratory under low temperature stress(0,5,10 and 15 ℃).The results showed that the eclosion rate of nymph decreased significantly with decreasing temperature. Most nymph died before eclosion at 0 ℃ and 5 ℃,and the eclosion rate at 10 ℃ and 15 ℃ was 19.10%and 75.71%of that at 26 ℃,respective-ly.The duration of nymph at low temperature was significantly prolonged. The duration of nymph at low temperature of 10 ℃ and 15 ℃ was 1.80 and 1.33 times that of control at 26 ℃,respectively. From 0 ℃ to 26 ℃,the longevity of male and females first increased and then decreased with increas-ing temperature, reaching the highest value at 10 ℃,which were 31.75 days and 30.61 days,respec-tively.The number of eggs laid by female and the rate of egg hatching decreased significantly with de-creasing temperature. The oviposition of A.lucorum at 5 ℃,10 ℃ and 15 ℃ was 3.92%,34.53%and 51.56%of the control at 26 ℃,respectively. No eggs hatched at 5 ℃,and the hatching rate at 10 ℃ and 15 ℃ was 8.12%and 21.36%of that at 26 ℃,respectively. All the results showed that low tem-perature inhibited the eclosion of A.lucorum nymph, and the degree of inhibition increased with the decrease in treatment temperature. At the same time, low temperature also suppressed adult reproduc-tion,and the degree of inhibition increased with decreasing temperature.
