During the Ming Dynasty,Qiu Jun centered his discourse on"governing the country and pacifying the world"and explored how to establish a global order, culminating in the work Supplement to the Extended Meanings of the Great Learning. In this book,Qiu Jun takes the"Sage Kings of the Three Dynasties"as models, adhering to the benevolent governance philosophy centered on"nurturing the people."He strongly urged future rulers to emulate Yao and Shun,to treat the people with sincerity,to commit to nurturing the people,to practice the governance of benevolence and righteousness, and to restore the governance seen in the times of Yao and Shun.Qiu Jun repeatedly emphasized that nurturing the people is the true embodiment of a monarch's benevolent governance.Only by focusing benevolent governance on nurturing the people can a global order be truly established, making one a"Sage Monarch"like Yao and Shun.According to Qiu Jun,nurturing the people is both the specific and the only path to building a global order;A monarch can truly achieve the grand unity of"all under heaven as one family"only by practicing this policy of nurturing the people and extending love to both Chinese and non-Chinese communities.
