Application of Air Gesture Teaching Method in Shoulder Joint Anatomy Teaching
Objective Based on the hierarchical analysis of study engagement,this study investigated the impact of air gesture teaching method on the cognitive load of shoulder joint motion anatomy teaching for students majoring in rehabilitation therapy.Methods We randomly divided 44 interns who interned in the Rehabilitation Medicine Department of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University into gesture teaching group(n=22)and conventional teaching group(n=22).The conventional teaching group was taught through traditional lectures on shoulder joint anatomy,while the gesture teaching group was taught by the same teacher using the air gesture simulation method.According to their study engagement level,the interns were divided into different populations,and the cognitive load,academic performance and teaching effectiveness of the two groups in different population were compared.Results Among the high-engagement population,the GCL of the gesture teaching group was significantly higher than that of the conventional teaching group(P<0.05);among the low-engagement population,the ICL score of the gesture teaching group was significantly lower(P<0.05).In the conventional teaching group,the GCL score was significantly higher than that of the conventional teaching group(P<0.05).There was no statistical differ-ence in theory or practice test scores between the two groups of students in the high-engagement population(P>0.05).In the low-engagement population group,the theory test scores of the gesture teaching group were significantly higher than those of the conventional teaching group(P<0.05).The interns in the high-engagement population gesture teaching group only scored significantly higher than the conventional teaching group in terms of teaching enthusiasm(P<0.05).By contrast,in the low-engagement population,the students in the gesture teaching group scored significantly higher than the conventional teaching group in learn-ing value and knowledge breadth(P<0.05).Conclusion The application of air gesture method has differ-ences among different study engagement levels,with the advantages of reducing students'intrinsic cognitive load,increasing related cognitive load,and improving teaching satisfaction from multiple dimensions.
