Under the background of the construction of the New Liberal Arts and New Medical Sciences,this study explores the teaching reform and assessment model of interdisciplinary courses,taking the course of Nursing Oral English as an example.Through empirical study,artificial intelligence(AI)oral applications and an innovative modified Mini-Clinical Evaluation Exercise(Mini-CEX)scale are adopted as assessment methods.These are integrated into formative and summative assessments,contrasting perspectives from teacher assessment,machine assessment,peer assessment,and self-assessment.The study implements a model of developing multiliteracies,guiding students to complete learning by design.Based on statistical results of academic performance,a SWOT analysis for the application of AI and modified Mini-CEX is car-ried out,analyzing the strengths,weaknesses,opportunities,and threats of the innovative applications.Consequently,Strengths-Opportunities(SO)strategies for growth,Weaknesses-Opportunities(WO)strate-gies for turnaround,Strengths-Threats(ST)strategies for diversification,and Weaknesses-Threats(WT)strategies for defense are proposed.These strategies aim to highlight the advantages of AI oral applications and the modified Mini-CEX,improve deficiencies,and explore new ideas for the construction of New Liberal Arts and New Medical Sciences and new paradigms for AI-empowered ESP courses,helping cultivate high-quality talents who are research-oriented,innovative,interdisciplinary and application-oriented.
