The ethnic medicine Calanthe fimbriata Franch.:Chemical constituents and their inhibitory activities on the proliferation of HepG2 cells
Objective To study the chemical constituents of Calanthe fimbriata Franch.and their inhibitory activities on the proliferation of HepG2 cells. Methods The methanol extract of C.fimbriata was purified by silica gel column chromatography,ODS column chroma-tography,Sephadex LH-20 chromatography, high performance liquid chromatography techniques. The structures of the compounds were elucidated by spectroscopic analysis and physicochemical properties.Their inhibitory activities on proliferation of HepG2 cells were tested by MTT method. Results Thirteen compounds were isolated and characterized as follows:betulalbuside A(1);roseoside(2);uridine(3);4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl-β-D-xylopyranosyl(1→6)-O-β-D-glucopyranoside(4);arctiiphenolglycoside A(5);sali-droside(6);3-methylbutan-1-ol-β-D-glucopyranoside(7);trans-linalool-3,6-oxide-β-D-glucopyranoside(8);(+)-isolariciresinol(9);adenosine(10);N-trans-p-hydroxyphenethyl coumaramine(11);marylaurencinol A(12);and callosin(13),respectively.And the activity result showed that compound 13 exhibited the inhibitory activity on the proliferation in HepG2 cells. Conclusion The identified compounds mainly contained 1 alkaloid,1 lignin,2 dihydrophenanthrenes,3 aromatic glycosides,2 monoterpene glycosides,2 nucleo-sides,1 aliphatic alcohol glycoside and 1 cyclic ketone glycoside. And all compounds were isolated from C.fimbriata for the first time.
