Efficacy of Kanglao Qingnao Decoction combined with quadruple anti-tuberculosis drugs on tuberculosis meningitis
Objective To explore the therapeutic effect of Kanglao Qingnao Decoction combined with quadruple anti-tuberculosis drugs on adult tuberculous meningitis.Methods A total of 121 patients with tuberculous meningitis were randomly divided into ob-servation group(60 cases)and control group(61 cases).The control group was treated with quadruple anti-tuberculosis drugs,and the observation group was treated with Kanglao Qingnao Decoction on the basis of the control group.All patients received con-tinuous treatment for 60 days and were followed up for 3 months after discharge.The levels of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α),early secreting antigenic target-6(ESAT-6),interferon-γ(INF-γ),interleukin-23(IL-23),interleukin-10(IL-10),lactate dehy-drogenase(LDH),and β2-microglobulin(β2-MG)in the cerebrospinal fluid of all patients were checked before and after treat-ment,and the symptoms of the patients were evaluated by using traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome score;the clinical indicators of the patients during the treatment period were observed,including the length of stay in the hospital and the disappearance of symptoms such as headache,fever,nausea and vomiting time.The total effective rates of the treatment and the incidence of adverse reactions in the 2 groups were observed and recorded.Results After treatment,the cerebrospinal fluid TNF-α,LDH,ESAT-6,β2-MG,IL-23,IL-10,INF-γ levels and TCM syndrome scores of the 2 groups were lower than before treatment,and the obser-vation group was lower than the control group(P<0.05).The observation group had headache,fever,nausea and vomiting.The disappearance time of symptoms and the length of hospital stay of the observation group were shorter than those of the control group(P<0.05).The total treatment effective rate in observation group was higher than in control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Kanglao Qingnao Decoction combined with quadruple anti-tuberculosis drugs can effectively relieve the clinical symptoms of adult patients with tuberculous meningitis and improve the levels of TNF-α and β2-MG in cerebrospinal fluid,and is safe and reliable.
