Effect of gabapentin and epalrestat in the treatment of painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy
Objective To explore the efficacy of gabapentin combined with epalrestat and mecobalamin in the treatment of painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy(PDPN).Methods 96 patients with PDPN were randomly divided into observation group(n=42)and control group(n=54).The control group was treated with gabapentin combined with mecobalamin, and the observation group was treated with epalrestat on the basis of the control group. The nerve conduction velocity, visual analogue scale(VAS),adverse reaction rate, quality of life and clinical efficacy of the 2 groups were observed. Results After 3 and 6 weeks of treatment, the VAS of the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.05).After 6 weeks of treatment, motor nerve conduction velocity and sensory nerve velocity were significantly increased in both groups; The conduction velocities of motor and sensory nerves in the observation group were significantly faster than those in the control group(P<0.05).After treatment, there was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the observation group(1.85%)and the control group(4.76%).After 6 weeks of treatment, there was no significant difference in the total effective rate between the observation group(95.23%)and the control group(90.73%)(P>0.05).After 6 weeks of treatment, the scores of physiological, psychological, social, disease and satisfaction dimensions were significantly higher than those before treatment, and the scores of the observation group were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Gabapentin combined with epalrestat and mecobalamin can relieve pain, improve neurological function, and improve the quality of daily life of patients with PDPN,which is worthy of clinical promotion.
