Effects of Moist Exposed Burn Ointment combined with photon therapeutic apparatus on healing of diabetic foot ulcer
Objective To explore the effects of Moist Exposed Burn Ointment(MEBO)combined with photon therapeutic apparatus on wound healing,serum basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF),vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)and transforming growth factor β1(TGF-β1)in patients with diabetic foot(DF)ulcer.Methods A total of 110 patients with DF ulcer were enrolled as the research objects.According to different treatment methods,they were divided into combined treatment group(n=54)and photon therapeutic apparatus group(n=56).The photon therapeutic apparatus group was treated with photon therapeutic apparatus,while the combined treatment group was additionally treated with MEBO.The wound healing(wound healing time,wound reduction area,wound healing rate),oxidative stress indexes of wound[superoxide dismutase(SOD),malondialdehyde(MDA),advanced oxidation protein products(AOPP)],wound exudation indexes[matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP-2),sterile alpha motif domain-containing protein 3(Samd-3),tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-2(TIMP-2)],bFGF,VEGF,TGF-β1 and the incidence of adverse reactions were compared between the 2 groups.Results After treatment,the wound healing time in combined treatment group was shorter than that in photon therapeutic apparatus group,the wound reduction area was larger than that in photon therapeutic apparatus group,and the wound healing rate was higher than that in photon therapeutic apparatus group(P<0.05).After treatment,the SOD levels was increased in both groups,which was higher in combined treatment group than in photon therapeutic apparatus group(P<0.05),while the AOPP and MDA levels were decreased,which were lower in combined treatment group than in photon therapeutic apparatus group(P<0.05).After treatment,the MMP-2 and Samd-3 in both groups were decreased,which were lower in combined treatment group than in photon therapeutic apparatus group(P<0.05),while the TIMP-2 was increased,which was higher in combined treatment group than in photon therapeutic apparatus group(P<0.05).After treatment,the levels of serum TGF-β1,VEGF and bFGF were increased in both groups,which were higher in combined treatment group than in photon therapeutic apparatus group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the 2 groups(P>0.05).Conclusion MEBO can reduce oxidative stress level,inhibit inflammation response,increase the levels of serum bFGF and TGF-β1,shorten wound healing time and accelerate wound healing.
