Curative effect of montelukast sodium combined with Fluticasone Propionate Nasal Spray in children with allergic rhinitis
Objective To explore the curative effect of montelukast sodium combined with Fluticasone Propionate Nasal Spray in children with allergic rhinitis(AR).Methods A total of 100 children with AR were enrolled as the research objects.According to simple randomization method,they were divided into observation group(n=50)and control group(n=50).The control group was treated with Fluticasone Propionate Nasal Spray,while the observation group was additionally treated with montelukast sodium.All were treated continuously for 8 weeks.The scores of clinical symptoms(nasal itching,sneezing,nasal congestion,and runny nose)were evaluated.The changes in scores of sinonasal outcome test scales-20(SNOT-20)were observed.The nasal ventilation function[nasal airway resistance(NAR),0-5 cm nasal cavity volume(NCV),nasal minimal cross-sectional area(NMCA),and nasal spirometry(NS)]and inflammatory factors[procalcitonin(PCT),and interleukin(IL)-1β,IL-6]were detected.The incidence of adverse reactions in the 2 groups was compared.Results The clinical total response rate of observation group was higher than that of control group(96.00%vs.84.00%,P<0.05).After treatment,the scores of clinical symptoms(nasal itching,nasal congestion,sneezing,runny nose)and SNOT-20 in both groups were decreased,which were lower in observation group than in control group(P<0.05).After treatment,NAR in observation group was significantly lower than that in control group,while the NCV,NMCA and NS were significantly higher than those in control group(P<0.05).After treatment,the levels of PCT,IL-1β and IL-6 in observation group were significantly lower than those in control group(P<0.05).The difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the 2 groups was not statistically significant(P>0.05).Conclusion Montelukast sodium combined with Fluticasone Propionate Nasal Spray is beneficial to improve clinical curative effect,nasal ventilation function and clinical symptoms,reduce inflammatory response and improve the quality of life in children with AR.
