Comparison of the effects of olanzapine with Aripiprazole Orally Disintegrating Tablets in the treatment of mania
Objective To compare and analyze the efficacy of olanzapine and Aripiprazole Orally Disintegrating Tablets in the treatment of mania and their effects on glucose and lipid metabolism indexes.Methods A total of 66 patients with mania were equally and randomly divided into 2 groups,olanzapine group treated with olanzapine,and aripiprazole group treated with Aripiprazole Orally Disintegrating Tablets.The course of treatment was 4 weeks.The clinical efficacy of the 2 groups was compared,and the body mass index(BMI),fasting blood glucose(FBG),2-hours postprandial blood glucose(2 hPG),total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)were measured before and after treatment.Before treatment and 1,2,4,and 6 weeks after treatment,the changes of Baker-Lafferson mania scale(BRMS)score were recorded and the occurrence of adverse reactions were compared.Results There was no significant difference in the total effective rate between the 2 groups(P＞0.05).After 1,2,4 and 6 weeks of treatment,the BRMS scores of the 2 groups were significantly decreased,1 week after treatment the scores in the olanzapine group were significantly lower than those in the aripiprazole group(P＜0.05),but there was no significant difference in the scores between the 2 groups after 2,4,and 6 weeks of treatment(P＞0.05).After treatment,there was no significant change in BMI,glucose and lipid metabolism indexes in the aripiprazole group(P＞0.05).The BMI,FBG,2 hPG and TG in the olanzapine group were significantly increased and significantly higher than those in the aripiprazole group(P＜0.05).The weight gain rate of the aripiprazole group was significantly lower than that of the olanzapine group(P＜0.05),and there was no significant difference in the recurrence rate between the 2 groups(P＞0.05).Conclusion The efficacy of olanzapine and Aripiprazole Orally Disintegrating Tablets in the treatment of mania is similar,but the effect of Aripiprazole Orally Disintegrating Tablets on the body weight and glucose and lipid metabolism of patients is less than the olanzapine.
