Efficacy of duloxetine combined with sertraline hydrochloride in the treatment of elderly depression
Objective To study the clinical efficacy of duloxetine combined with sertraline hydrochloride in the treatment of elderly patients with depression complicated with somatic symptoms. Methods 102 elderly patients with depression and somatic symptoms were enrolled and divided into control group(n=51)and observation group(n=51)by throwing method. The control group was treated with duloxetine, while the observation group was combined with sertraline hydrochloride on the basis of the control group. The clinical efficacy, anxiety and depression status, laboratory indicators and adverse reactions were compared between the 2 groups. Results The total effective rates of clinical treatment in the observation group(96.08%)was significantly higher than that in the control group(80.39%)(P<0.05).After treatment, the scores of geriatric depression scale(GDS),Hamilton anxiety scale(HAMA)and Hamilton depression scale(HAMD)were decreased in both groups, and the scores in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).The scores of treatment emergent symptom scale(TESS)in the observation group at 1,3 and 6 weeks after treatment were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05),and there were significant differences between the groups at different time points(P<0.05).The levels of 5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT)and brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF)in the observation group after treatment were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05),while the level of norepinephrine(NE)was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).The incidence rates of adverse reactions in both groups were 13.73%and 17.65%respectively(P>0.05).Conclusion Duloxetine combined with sertraline hydrochloride has obvious efficacy in the treatment of elderly patients with depression complicated with somatic symptoms, and it can significantly improve anxiety and depression status and has good regulation effect on serum neurotransmitters. The combination does not have obvious adverse reactions, with good safety.
