Study on the medical personnel's occupational exposure to hazardous drugs in intravenous drug dispensing center
Objective To study the medical personnel's occupational exposure to hazardous drugs in intravenous drug dispensing center. Methods 130 medical staff in intravenous drug dispensing center of a hospital were investigated. The basic data of the subjects were collected and multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to screen the risk factors for occupational exposure.A prediction model of occupational exposure to hazardous drugs was established, and receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve was plotted to evaluate the predictive performance of the model. Results The survey showed that the incidence of occupational exposure was 30.77%,and nurses were members of the focus group, most of whom were from the department of internal medicine.Logistic regression analysis showed that low awareness rate of protection from hazardous drugs, failing to operate according to the international standardization process, failing to wear protective device strictly, not standardized treatment after occupational exposure, improper treatment of waste disposal, not standard drug delivery, not complete site-clearing,cleaning and disinfection, and not standard check of packaging were independent risk factors for occupational exposure to hazardous drugs(P<0.05).The sensitivity, specificity and area under ROC curve were 84.00%,68.50%and 0.766,respectively,indicating that the model had good predictive value(P<0.05).Conclusion Clinically, training related to the use and treatment of hazardous drugs should be carried out to avoid or reduce occupational exposure.
