Objective To review the pharmacological effect and clinical application of Crocus sativus L.,to discuss the development of its resources and to provide reference for further development and application.Methods By reviewing relevant books and literature,the pharmacological effects and clinical applications of Crocus sativus L.were summarized.Results Crocus sativus L.has pharmacological effects,such as protecting the liver and kidneys,anti-tumor,protecting the nervous and cardiovascular systems,and so on.Now,Crocus sativus L.is used to treat various liver diseases,coronary heart disease and neurological disorders in clinic.Conclusion Crocus sativus L.has a broad application prospect and we should strengthen the resources development and clinical utilization.
