Reflection on the Successful Confucian Scholars in the Imperial Examination in Ru Lin Wai Shi
In his book Ru Lin Wai Shi,Wu Jingzi vividly depicted the group of Confucian scholars in different stages under the Eight-legged system of selecting scholars, criticizing the strange phenomenon of the imperial ex-amination system, which was supposed to cultivate talented people for the world, but produced many corrupt and ugly Confucian scholars. In response to this,by taking Confucianism as the cultural background, and through personal exploration and practice,Wu Jingzi proposed the cultivation of true Confucian sages who are self-disci-plined and pay attention to the source of literature and practice to save the Confucian community.
