Evolutionary Characteristics and Multi-dimensional Proximity Mechanism of Intercity Innovation Networks in the Yangtze River Delta Urban Agglomeration
Urban networking is an inevitable result of the development of urban agglomerations to an ad-vanced stage, and innovation networks are an important support for enhancing regional innovation capabilities.Taking the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration as an example, this study uses spatial network models and the Multiple Regression Quadratic Assignment Procedure(MRQAP)to analyze the structure of the innovation network in this urban agglomeration and to explore its proximity mechanisms. The results show:(1)The overall spatial pattern of innovation capability in the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration is high in the southeast and low in the northwest;(2)The centrality of urban agglomeration innovation network nodes has obvious hierar-chical characteristics;(3)There is a clear inverted U-shaped relationship between geographic, institutional, cognitive, technological, and social proximity and the innovation network of urban agglomerations.Geographic proximity and cognitive and technological proximity are substitutable relationships, while they are complementary to institutional and social proximity. There is still much room for improvement in the collaborative innovation net-work of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration, and it is necessary to further promote the efficient flow of urban element resources and to strengthen the exploration and encouragement of new models and mechanisms for intercity network cooperation.
