Does the Digital Input of China's Manufacturing Industry Affect the Export Product Quality?——Micro Evidence from Manufacturing Enterprises
This paper summarizes the research results of digital input in promoting the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry at home and abroad, combined with the theory of determining of export product quality, and deduces and analyzes the impact of digital input on export product quality. At the empirical level, relying on the WIOD database to calculate the level of digital input at the industry level, and achieving quantitative comparative analysis between countries at the industry level. The export product quality at the enterprise level is calculated by matching the China Customs database and the China Industrial Enterprise database. The cross database is merged into the panel data of export product quality at the enterprise level from 2000 to 2013.Based on theoretical analysis,by constructing an econometric model, the relationship between digital input and export product quality is analyzed. On conclusion,it is found that in China, the level of digital input by enterprises has a positive driving effect on the quality of exported products, which has heterogeneity among enterprises of different scales and different levels of digital input. The improvement of production efficiency and optimization of resource allocation are two important influencing mechanisms.
