The Impact of Two-Child Policy on Family Education Expenditures:An Empirical Study Based on the Data of China Family Panel Studies
Two-Child Policy has brought about changes in family demographics,thus influencing the decisions regarding family educational expenditures.This article utilizes the implementation of Two-Child Policy as a natural experiment and em-ploys a difference-in-differences model based on data from China Family Panel Studies to examine how the birth of a child affects family educational expenditures.Furthermore,it delves into the heterogeneous effects of maternal education levels and maternal employment status on family educational expenditures.The research findings suggest that Two-Child Policy leads to an increase in family educational expenditures.Additionally,as maternal education levels increase,there is a corresponding increase in the propensity to invest in their children's education.In comparison to families with stay-at-home mothers for the second child,fami-lies with working mothers are also more inclined to increase their family educational expenditures.
