A Preliminary Study of Three-child Fertility Intention and Its Impact on Education Among Shanghai Youth of Childbearing Age
Based on the survey data on the willingness to have three children of young people of childbearing age in Shang-hai,the study explored the influencing factors on the willingness by using chi-square test and multiple ordered logistic regression analysis. The study found that the willingness of Shanghai's youth of childbearing age to have three children is generally low;and it is affected by factors such as gender, age, household registration, educational background, marital status, number of existing children, whether an only child, monthly family income, housing situation, etc.,those factors characterize fertility intentions at dif-ferent levels.Fertility support system, family and fertility views, personal career development, and urban population mobility are the four major factors influencing the fertility intention of Shanghai's youth of childbearing age, with family and fertility views be-ing the most influential factors.Lower willingness of three-child fertility intention is not conducive to the investment and optimal allocation of resources in the pre-school education and compulsory education stage. To further enhance the willingness of Shang-hai's youth of childbearing age,it is necessary to realize the integration of policy orientation and fertility autonomy, the combina-tion of comprehensive enhancement and targeting, the promotion of scientific views of fertility, and the improvement of the fertility support system.
