Does Boarding Affect the Academic Performance of Students in China's Compulsory Educational Stage—Analysis based on CFPS 2020 Cross-Sectional Data
Based on the data of China Family Panel Studies(CFPS)in 2020,the paper uses the Ordered Probit model to dis-cuss the impact of boarding students in compulsory education on their academic performance.The results found that compared with non-boarders,boarding in compulsory education has a significant negative impact on their academic performance,and stu-dents choosing boarding will significantly reduce their academic performance;boarding does not affect all boarders,and students in different grades are affected by boarding.The results suggest that parents should treat the boarding system correctly and estab-lish correct educational concepts;schools should provide differentiated educational support and implement the educational con-cept of comprehensive development.
