The Realistic Dilemma and Possible Paths of STEAM Education Boosting the Implementation of"Double-reduction"Policy
STEAM education is a trend in the current reform of basic education in China and an important way to support the implementation of"double-reduction"policy.The situational,practical,project-based,process-oriented,and interdisciplinary characteristics of STEAM education provide the possibility for the implementation of the"double-reduction"policy.STEAM education is facing some practical difficulties in supporting the implementation of the"double-reduction"policy.For exam-ple,the quality of after-school services cannot be guaranteed,the improvement of classroom teaching quality is not effective,the competence of STEAM education teachers is insufficient,and there are re-gional,urban-rural,and inter school differences in the development of STEAM education.STEAM education can assist in the implementation of China's"double reduction"policy by strengthening the design of comprehensive practical activities and expanding the content of after-school services,using project-based learning as a starting point to improve the quality of classroom teaching,paying attention to the training of STEAM teachers and improve their comprehensive quality,and focusing on characteristic development and promoting balanced development of STEAM education through digital transformation.
