The Deviation of the Role of the University President and the Regression of Times
With the quality revolution of higher education and the increasing complexity of uni-versity organizational structure,the university president has been imposed with multiple role require-ments from inside and outside the organization,which makes the president suffer from the internal contradictions of his own role body,resulting in the realistic dilemma of role dislocation,absence and offside.In terms of university attributes and functions,politicians,educators and leaders are the three core roles of university presidents.In the context of the new era,the university president should give new connotations to the three core roles,act as a politician who is full of national feelings and national interests,have higher political consciousness and political foresight,and have a sense of so-cial responsibility and social mission;to be an educator who takes into account the theory and prac-tice of education,achieves the unity of knowledge and practice,takes root in the humanistic feelings of education,realizes the integration of feeling and intention,carries out the fundamental task of cul-tivating morality and educating people,and realizes the sublimation of knowledge,feeling and prac-tice;to act as a leader of thought leadership,gathering strength,leading academia and defending truth.So as to adapt to the demands of the new era,realize the return of the role of the times,and ful-ly realize the role value of the university president.
