Williams College's focus on excellence in undergraduate education,and its 13 consecutive years at the top of the list of America's liberal arts colleges,is due to its unique faculty development mechanism.Wil-liams College's faculty development mechanism is based on a polymorphic organization as the basic structure of faculty development,appropriate teaching as the main content of faculty development,compatible careers as the professional direction of faculty development,and inclusive faculty welfare as the personal guarantee for faculty development.Through the construction of disciplinary integrity,structural stability,and formal flexibil-ity for organizational development,the maintenance of teaching-research integration,teacher-student interac-tion,and ethical-technical symbiosis for pedagogical development,the shaping of identities as administrators,pedagogues,researchers,and service providers for professional development,and the establishment of welfare for personal development in the form of various forms,multiple procedures,and value pluralism,Williams College aims to provide a mirror for China's first-rate undergraduate education.
