Development of a nursing intervention program for patients in maintenance haemodialysis with constipation
Objective To develop a nursing intervention program for patients under maintenance haemodialysis with constipation based on the theoretical frameworks of planned behaviour and integrated model of knowledge, attitude and practice(KAP)so as to provide a reference for conducting a systematic and standardised nursing intervention. Methods The theory of planned behaviour and the integrated model of KAP were used to draft an intervention program for patients with constipation while in maintenance haemodialysis by way of literature review and expert discussion.Delphi method was used to conduct the correspondence consultations from experts to modify all the items included in the drafted intervention program and finalise it to be an executable program. Results After two rounds of correspondence consultations,16 experts reached consensus on the program. The effective response rates of the two rounds were 80%and 100%,respectively,with the expert authority coefficient of 0.89,and the Kendall coordination coefficient of the importance of the two rounds at 0.299 and 0.355,respectively(P<0.05).The finalised intervention program included 5 primary indicators that included the improving disease cognition, changing behavioural attitude, guiding subjective norms, strengthening behavioural control and changing behavioural intention, with additional 10 secondary indicators and 40 tertiary indicators. Conclusions The nursing intervention program for the patients with constipation while in maintenance haemodialysis developed in this study is reliable, scientific, and practical. Therefore,it can be applied by clinical staff to the care for the patients with constipation while in maintenance haemodialysis.
