Study on the efficacy of repeated transcranial magnetic stimulation combined with citicoline sodium tablets in the treatment of vascular dementia after cerebral infarction
Objective To explore the efficacy of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation(rTMS)combined with citicoline sodium tablets in the treatment of vascular dementia(VD)after cerebral infarction. Methods Eighty-four patients with post-stroke VD admitted to Wenzhou Seventh People's Hospital from April 2020 to April 2021 were included.Among them,42 patients were treated with rTMS combined with citicoline sodium tablets(observation group)and 42 cases were treated with citicoline sodium tablets(control group). The clinical efficacy, and daily living ability(evaluated using the modified Barthel index),social activity ability[evaluated using the social activity function scale(FAQ)],dementia status[evaluated using the Hasegawa dementia scale(HDS)],menstrual function[evaluated using the National Institutes of Health stroke scale(NIHSS)],and cognitive function[evaluated using the mini-mental state examination(MMSE)],serum homocysteine(Hcy)and angiotensin converting enzyme(ACE)before and after 4 weeks of treatment were compared between the two groups. Results The total effective rate was significantly higher in the observation group than in the control group(95.2%vs.73.8%,P=0.007).After treatment, the modified Barthel index,HDS and MMSE scores increased,FAQ,NIHSS scores, serum Hcy,and ACE decreased significantly in both groups(all P<0.05).The improvements were more significant in the observation group than in the control group(all P<0.05).Conclusion rTMS combined with citicoline sodium tablets is benefit to improve VD after cerebral infarction.
