Application of transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation combined with epidural block in labor analgesia and its effect on the second stage of labor
Objective To observe the application of transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation(TEAS)combined with epidural block in labor analgesia and its effect on the second stage of labor. Methods Select clinical data of 98 primiparous women who underwent vaginal trial delivery at the Affiliated Hospital of North China University of Science and Technology from January to October 2022,according to different analgesic methods, they were divided into the improved group(46 cases)and the traditional group(52 cases).Observing the delivery mode and postpartum hemorrhage of two groups of parturients, comparing the Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)pain scores of the two groups before pain relief.Analyzing the VAS pain scores at various stages of cervical dilation, the duration of the second stage of labor following the implementation of labor pain relief, the dosage of anesthetic drugs administered, the degree of motor block experienced, the Apgar score of newborns at 1 minute post-birth,the incidence of complications, the prevalence of postpartum depression, and maternal satisfaction. Results The second stage of labor was significantly shorter in the modified group of parturients after labor analgesia was implemented,as opposed to the traditional group(P<0.05).The VAS score, cesarean section rate, total amount of anesthesia used, and incidence of postpartum depression were all significantly lower in the modified group compared to the traditional group(P<0.05).Additionally,the postpartum satisfaction in the improved group was higher than that in the traditional group(P<0.05).The comparison of VAS scores during the active phase of the first stage of labor, maternal motor block scores, postpartum hemorrhage, incidence of complications, and apgar scores after 1 minute of birth between the two groups did not show any statistically significant difference(P>0.05).Conclusion Combining TEAS with epidural block analgesia is a safe and effective method for managing labor pain. This approach has been shown to reduce the duration of the second stage of labor, lower the rate of cesarean sections, decrease the amount of epidural block anesthesia drugs used, enhance maternal satisfaction, and have no adverse effects on newborns.
