Objective To investigate the relationship between physical activity, skeletal muscle mass and bone mineral density(BMD)in pupils of grade 1-4 in Zunhua City. Methods In September 2018,pupils in grade 1-4 were selected as subjects and investigated using the questionnaire including physical activity as well as the bone density and body composition tests.Chi-square test and multivariate unconditional logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the relationship of exercise time and limb skeletal muscle mass and BMD,using SPSS 23.0 statistical software. Results The abnormal rates of bone health were 20.47%and 13.61%with the cumulative daily exercise time of 30min or less and above 30min,respectively,and the abnormal rate of bone mineral density decreased with the increase of exercise time(x2trend=4.087,P=0.043).The abnormal rates of bone mineral density in primary school students with 0,1~2 and 3~4 limb muscle mass were 20.4%,15.7%and 10.2%,respectively,and decreased with the increase of limb muscle mass(x2trend=5.206,P=0.023).The results of multivariate unconditional logistic regression analysis showed that compared with the exercise time of 0~10min group, the exercise time of the group greater than 40min decreased by 38.6%(P<0.05).Compared with the limb muscle 0 standard group, the abnormal rates of bone mineral density in the 1~2 and 3~4 standard groups decreased by 38.6%and 56.0%,respectively(P<0.05).Conclusion Daily moderate exercise and high skeletal muscle mass can reduce the risk of developing BMD abnormalities.
