The Pronunciation and Evolution of the Initial Consonants of the Ancient Zhi-Zhuang-Zhang(知庄章)Group in the Tangyin Dialect of Henan Province
The combination of the initial consonants of zhi-zhuang-zhang(知庄章)group and jing group with broad sounds(精组洪音)in the current Tangyin dialect is pronounced as[tʂ tʂh ʂ]or[tʃ tʃh ʃ].Based on the synchronic examination of surrounding dialects,we believe that the unity of zhi-zhuang-zhang(知庄章)group and jing group with broad sounds(精组洪音)in Tangyin dialect evolved under the premise that zhi-zhuang-zhang's opening and closing are merged into one group and opposed to jing group.By sorting out the situation of the initials of zhi-zhuang-zhang(知庄章)group in rhyme books such as Zhongyuan Yinyun(《中原音韵》),Qingjiao Zazhu(《青郊杂著》),and Jiaotai Yun(《交泰韵》),it is roughly determined that the initial consonant unity of the zhi-zhuang-zhang(知庄章)group occurred during the Ming dynasty. The combination of the initial consonants in the zhi-zhuang-zhang(知庄章)group of Tangyin(汤阴)dialect may be the result of the evolution influenced by the peripheral integrated dialect.
