Game of Meaning:The Double-Layers Semantic Equivalence Model of"Hao/Haobu X(好/好不X)"
"Hao X(好 X)"and"haobu X(好不 X)"express the speaker's subjective attitude, both of them belong to the expression category of generalized modality. The semantic equivalence between"hao X(好 X)"and"haobu X(好不 X)"can be explained by using negative implicature and scalar inference, and a double-layers semantic equivalence model for expressing positive meaning and negative meaning can be constructed.According to research, the positive or negative form of X itself decides the semantic equivalence in which layer. In addition,we give a new interpretation of"irony"in traditional analytical methods and hold that"hao X(好 X)"as ironic understanding is actually a reduced form based on the original structure"haobu·bu X(好不·不 X)".By studying this case,we hope to provide a new way to explore the phenomenon of redundant negation.
